![]() ![]() ![]() Beginning with a simple instrumental track titled “Overture”, it is the second track, “The Grid”, setting the scene for the album.Ĭomplete with Jeff Bridges (who starred in both TRON movies) narrating the track, it is an excellent introduction to not only the album but to the movie as well. While it does maintain the electronic vibe that comes with Daft’s music, it also incorporates the orchestral sound of a normal movie composition.ĭaft Punk, with the help of conductor and orchestrator Joseph Trapanese were able to blend a perfect fusion of electronic and orchestral music to create the soundtrack. The thing to keep in mind while listening to the album, however, is this is not just another one of Daft Punk’s records it is the soundtrack for a film. Daft Punk, the composers of the soundtrack for TRON: Legacy, attended the movies world premier in Los Angeles. A total of 22 songs made it on to the album, but depending on what online source it is purchased from, various bonus tracks are also available. At the 2009 Comic-Con, it was announced the group created 24 songs for the soundtrack. TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski approached Daft Punk, made up of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, in 2008 with a proposal to compose the score for the movie. After not hearing much from the group for three years, minus their work and appearance on the video game DJ Hero, Daft Punk is back with their soundtrack for the new movie, TRON: Legacy. Good effort Tommy Daft and Bobby Punk.It was 2007 when French techno duo, Daft Punk, last treated fans to a CD release. The drama, beauty and occasional pace makes everything bigger somehow. I can’t really think of many situations where the Tron Legacy Soundtrack wouldn’t fit in perfectly a long run, a visit to a new city, a train trip, a road trip, a good book, a hard day at work. However, for the most, Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack is a flow of strings and horn (all be it of a digital variety). While these element aren’t all consuming their are a couple of of tracks that are more heavily weighted int heir favour, like The Game Has Changed, End of Line and Derezzed. ![]() Maybe it’s the electronic and dance elements of the soundtrack that have kept it out of their line of sight, but that’s no excuse in our eyes. Hopefully, one day it will be appreciated for the brilliant composition of classically based tracks that it is. Instead there are no results for the Tron Legacy soundtrack at all on the Classic FM website. The Tron Legacy soundtrack is a blend of both worlds though and should have been given credit for being one of the best classical music albums of the year. ![]() However, luckily for Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, AKA Daft Punk, they’ve got dance music listeners fighting their corner, with the album going to number 1 in the UK dance charts. It seems that if it isn’t being belted out Mustang Sally style by Russell Watson or featured in a Harry Potter film the classical music community doesn’t really want to know. Having just checked the classic top 40, it doesn’t look like Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy soundtrack made too much of a dent on the classical music world, but I reckon it should go down in history as one of the finest set of original compositions to grace the classical music world in recent years. ![]()
